CHEMTREAT AH 3 is a powdered blend of alkalis used for boiling-out boilers prior to commissioning and for removing moderate contamination by oil. It is also used as a preliminary treatment when removing scale containing a high proportion of calcium sulfate. CHEMTREAT AH 3 is also used to neutralize residual acid traces and to passivate metal surfaces after acid cleaning.
The concentration of CHEMTREAT AH 3 will depend on the application. However it will normally be 2% for pre-commission boil out and 0.5% for passivation following acid cleaning. CHEMTREAT AH 3 should not be added to the boiler in powder form but should be dissolved in water and then added to the boiler.
